A former lecturer, Dr. Wong taught both undergraduate and postgraduate studentsinthe School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also served as the China MSc Program Leader in the School for almost 9 years.
He served in different professional bodies as advisor and consultant, such as Asia Ecotourism Network Founding Board Member, Honorary Advisor for Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve, an expertise member in the China Ecological Civilization Research, and Honorary Advisor for Hong Kong Association of Registered Tour Coordinators (HARTCO).
Dr. Wong also has extensive industry experience in travel and tourism related organizations, such as Mera Travel in Hong Kong, Matilda Cruises in Australia, and the Euro-American Amusement Park in China.
TRAINING and CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE
Dr. Wong has nearly two decades of experience in delivering quality training workshops, and providing consultancy services to various companies and organisations.
Leadership and Team Building
Dr. Wong has also conducted workshops on Leadership and Team Building for University of Macau and Jeonju University; Leadership for CTS EDP; Leadership and Human Resources Management for CITS Ocean Spring Hotel and Resort in Zhuhai; Team Building for Hotel Icon in Macau, Xiamen Jingmen Central Hotel Group, Hannai Air (HNA) Hospitality Group (EDP); and training seminars on Team Building and Leadership for hotels in China, including Dalian International Airport Hotel, Jin Jiang Hotel, Grand Hyatt, and Fu Wah Hotel.
Quality Service
In addition, Dr. Wong has provided Executive Development Training Programs regarding quality service to Angel Garden Boutique Hotel (Anji, Zhejiang), Nade Hotel (Hangzhou), and Yoshinoya. He was invited as speaker on the topic of Service Excellence for Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK) of Vocational Training Council, and University Health Service of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was invited as one of the experts for “Professionals Supporting Project for Western Development of China” and provided training in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan on topics including Service Excellence and Leadership.
Sustainable and Eco Practices
Dr. Wong gave training for Global Sustainable Tourism Council on Sustainable Tourism in Hong Kong and Taiwan; and Central South University of Forestry and Technology regarding Ecotourism. He provided Executive Development Training Programs on Ecotourism to government officials from China, such as Shenzhen Depeng Government. He was invited as speaker for China’s Eco Forum Global 2016 on the topic of Ecotourism in Hong Kong. He also provided training for overseas organizations, such as Green Destination in Seoul, Korea on Sustainable Tourism, and ASEAN-ROK Forest Cooperation on Forest-based Ecotourism in Malaysia.
Human Resources Management
Concerning Human Resources Management, Dr. Wong has conducted Executive Development Training Programs for numerous companies and organizations in the hospitality and tourism industry, such as JueWei Company, LingNan Hospitality Management Co Ltd, Parklane Hotel Dongguan, Jingling Hotel, Jin Mao Shanghai Group, Zhong Shang Group (Jiangsu), Guangdong Tourism Bureau, and Jiangmen Tourism Bureau.
Crisis Management & Professionalism for Tour Guides

For Macau Government Tourism Office & HARTCO, Dr. Wong has also conducted trainings on Crisis Prevention and Crisis Management for Tour Guides. He was invited as guest speaker for HARTCO on Professional Ethnics for Tour Guides and on the topic of creating a mindful experience for visitors. Besides, he was invited as keynote speaker for the Pearl River Delta Tour Guide Conference on Port Lecturer Program for the Cruise Industry in Hong Kong.
In addition to giving trainings, Dr. Wong was involved in other activities related to tour guides, such as acting as panel judge for competition, and as tour leader taking groups to different places overseas.

Leadership in the hospitality industry and cross-cultural management are Dr. Wong's main research interests. Lately, he is also interested in researching sustainable and ecotourism. He published his research findings in different hospitality, educational and management journals, such as International Journal of Hospitality Management (SSCI Journal), Journal of China Tourism Research, Tourism Culture and Communication, Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, Journal of Business Research, Asian Journal of Business and Information System and Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing.
